Allama Sajid Naqvi remembers 6 July 1980 a historic day for Shia rights.

Shia Ulma Council founder leader issued a message to mark the 6th July 1980 when Shia Muslims waged a peaceful struggle for legitimate fundamental rights.

He named the 6th July as the Day of Enforcement of Jafari Jurisprudence for Shia Muslims (Youm-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafaria).

He recalled that people largely attended convention in Islamabad on 6 July 1980.

Allama Sajid Naqvi cited that people had made Islamic, legitimate, legal, democratic, rational and logical demand that the government must respect and recognize creed and tenet of all schools of thought in the process of Islamisation.

He said peaceful protesters demanded the government must ensure religious freedoms and civil liberties while respecting religious belief of all people (Muslims).
